Denny Kopp established Kopp String Instruments in 1999 as a repair shop in Republic, Ohio. The original Kopp model was the Betty Swing Archtop Jazz Guitar, introduced in the year 2000. This  was soon followed by the 419 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar. In 2005 Kopp relocated his workshop to Catawba Island. Kopp specialises in archtops but also offers flat-top electrics and acoustic guitars.
