Jordan McConnell made his first guitar in 1999 with David Freeman in Saskatchewan, Canada. He then returned to Winnipeg, quit his job, took over his father's small workshop and began building guitars full time. In 2001 he travelled to Spain for a masterclass with Spanish Luthier José Luis Romanillos. He makes a small number of acoustic and electric guitars each year largely by hand using a minimum of jigs and fixtures.
