Willis Guitars was founded by Alexander Nairn Willis and ran from 1999 to 2007 in Pevensey, East Sussex, UK. Willis was born in Scotland and worked in the Navy and then as a boat builder. For a while he lived in the USA. 5 years after returning to the UK with his family, he began making guitars as a hobby in the mid 1990s. By the late 1990s he had progressed to making classical and acoustic guitars professionally
