The Samick MALIBU SERIES aimed to capture the essence of the Fender Sratocaster but with a slightly reduced (more comfortable) alder body and some other changes. These Malibu models have a deeper neck pocket than a traditional strat. The compact angled back head stock produces greater string bearing pressure at the nut - with improved attack & sustain. Earlier Samick Strat copies had Strat style headstocks - but these were changed for the Malibu series (perhaps for legal reasons). Anyway the 3-per-side tuners potentially provide better tuning stability with a straighter string pull. These guitars have Duncan Designed pickups which aim to capture that unique vintage Strat tone - a combination of glassy clarity and warmth.
